Introduction
I had many dreams when I entered my school. Sometimes, I wanted to be a pilot, and at other times, I wanted to teach just like my teachers. I used to be very excited about every new day and every new activity, but now I am just focussing on my aims and targets. I used to think it was easy to become whatever I want to when I grew up, but now that I know how much hard work and seriousness it takes. It becomes difficult to make some choices. Here is a poem that describes all the things 'I used to think about’, and 'Now I'll have better knowledge about them’.
-
Early habits
I got up early from bed,
Demanding more time to rest.
I wasn't a good boy, nor was I bad,
I used to try hard, and now I am the best.
Shy to speak in my class,
Never did I speak my thoughts out loud,
But speak you must, to face the world.
Wanted to score more than the passing marks,
Worked hard, and now I made myself proud.
-
Dreams and goals
Saw an aeroplane high up in the sky,
I thought it would be fun to fly it one day.
I used to be a fan of detectives and spies,
Now I just want to study and play.
I used to be afraid of separating from my mom,
But separated sons guard our nation’s border.
Now I'm not afraid of any harm,
I will fight for my nation with every command and order.
Conclusion
Change in time brings experience. This experience is a way of living a better life by learning new things. Never miss any opportunity that comes your way, whether big or small. Make mistakes and learn from them. Be a better person than the one you were yesterday. 'I used to, now I' is all about the characteristics, dreams and mistakes of a person who has changed and evolved from the first day of school. This process of learning and becoming a better person is an ongoing one. Things become better with better experiences and knowledge. You can analyse all the present decisions based on your past ones. Though some dreams and goals remain unfulfilled, many do come true!
