What Is Your Favorite Thing To Do For Fun?
Ever since I learned to read, I have been fascinated by the world of fiction. While I also like to focus on my academic books, it is fictional storybooks that have my heart. Whenever I get some free time from my studies or whenever I need to take a break from it, I run and open a storybook to read. Though this might not be the definition of fun for many, it certainly is for me.
I specifically like to read fiction stories that have magic as an underlying plot. Although I am old enough to know that magic isn’t real, the thrill of reading about magical places and beings is something that I enjoy a lot. Books like The Secret Garden have had a lasting impact on me ever since I read them.
Apart from reading books, I also enjoy photography as a hobby. I was given a camera for my 15th birthday, and ever since then, I have found great pleasure in capturing the world around me in stills. Now, when that camera is no longer functional, I make do with my smartphone. I believe photography is more than just picture quality and resolution. The setting, subjects, mood, and other aspects are much more important than the megapixel count of one’s camera.
Whenever I’m feeling down, I go on my terrace and start capturing pictures of whatever seems intriguing. My phone gallery app is filled with pictures of random flowers, insects, dogs sleeping peacefully on the footpaths, and other simple subjects.
I’ve started to do a recent activity to capture my evening walk to the market. I believe evening is the time when life is at its full flow. It is the time when the market is packed with people going about their business. It is the time when people from all generations and backgrounds come together to shop, eat, or do a fun outing with their friends and families.
I like to capture life under light, and the market is the best place to do it. Every so often, I go out and click pictures of vegetable sellers weighing tomatoes on their scales, people eating paani puri, and just people doing random activities that pique my interest. I try to capture life in its absolute simplicity, and this is something that I enjoy doing a lot.
