The holidays are generally filled with celebration and frolic. People go out to different places, explore new things, and make merry during the holidays. While I love holidays, there is one holiday I do not celebrate.

Yes, it is sad but true. I do not celebrate Christmas. People decorate their homes on Christmas, adorn the Christmas tree, buy gifts, and celebrate with friends and family. I do none of the above. I do not like to celebrate the Christmas holiday.

Why Do I Not Celebrate the Christmas Holiday?

The reason behind not celebrating Christmas is that I lost my dearest pet dog - Bruno, on Christmas. The Christmas holiday reminds me of my lovable dog - Bruno. Bruno was my friend, and I shared a special bond with him.

I used to bathe him, play with him, and share my feelings with him. Bruno would eagerly wait for me when I was in school. When I returned from school, he would welcome me and wag his tail with utter happiness.

I am upset on Christmas as I miss my best companion, my pet - Bruno. Hence, I do not celebrate the Christmas holiday.

What do I Do on Christmas?

For me, the Christmas holiday has become just like a typical day. I do not go to school, but I get up early as usual. Every Christmas, I go to the temple to pray for Bruno. I pray to God that he should be happy and at peace wherever Bruno might be.

I spend time with my family so that I feel Bruno's absence. My mother knows that I am full of sorrow on Christmas, so she cooks my favourite meal. She plays with me and tells me stories so that I do not miss Bruno.

Sometimes, I also cry while remembering Bruno. She pacifies me and gives me the courage to face reality.

Bruno is no more with me. But, it will always be in my heart. I would always cherish and commemorate the time I spent with Bruno. I prefer to be alone for a while on Christmas. Bruno and his memories are with me.

There is a stray dog shelter near my house. All the sick stray dogs are taken care of in that dog shelter. I also go to that dog shelter in the evening with my mother.

I give food to them and take care of them. Christmas is no more a holiday for me to celebrate. It is a day to remember Bruno and do something for its sake.
