Man vs. Nature: Restoring the balance for a sustainable future!
What is Nature? It isn't easy to define nature, since everything that makes planet Earth habitable is part of the definition. Simply put, nature consists of the land, forests, mountains, oceans, human beings, atmosphere, flora, fauna, and everything in between that affects the Earth's life cycle. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that there would not be any Earth if there were no nature.
Nature provides life. The water supplied by nature keeps us alive, and the food builds our immunity and helps us live longer. Nature also provides animals with the forest to live in. It helps mountains and hills to stay secluded and untouched. Nature is the reason there is life in Antarctica! It is the reason humanity has evolved and come this far. It has provided us with mines to extract resources and make fuel. It has contributed to the technological advancement and economic development of the world. Nature has been present since the inception of the Earth, and that is why life has been able to evolve. But, it seems that nature is no longer thriving.
Human beings, who are alive because of nature, are becoming the reason for its destruction. The ever-increasing population and the need to build houses and develop new roads have led to the rapid destruction of natural greenery and the loss of thousands of acres of forests. A rise in population means more mouths to feed. Chemicals are being used on farms to increase the output, and lands are being tilled quickly without giving them time to regain their fertility. This has resulted in many lands becoming deserts and unfit for cultivation.
Not just land, but even oceans have seen the effect of man’s wrath. Marine ecosystems and aquatic life have suffered huge losses due to increasing water pollutants. With the water in oceans being polluted, rainfall is also becoming very heavy or less frequent, resulting in floods and droughts.
Global warming has increased the temperature of the atmosphere, glaciers are melting sooner than expected, and animals are going extinct.
If this isn’t the right time to take matters into our hands and figure out a way to solve these ever-increasing problems, there won’t be time to do anything in the future. Nature is ever-giving and forgiving, and we need to make amends as soon as possible.
